About Exel Prod

We import the hand tools that professionals here keep asking for and cannot buy.

Exel Prod Distribution Inc. was founded in 2024 and trades as Exel Prod from Mississauga, Ontario. We are a specialist distributor of precision hand tools — 12 departments, 58 listed parts, 35 makers, and nothing outside that category.

The gap

Great makers, no channel

A tradesman who has used a VESSEL driver on a Japanese fastener, or a pair of KNIPEX Cobras on a seized fitting, does not go back. They ask for that tool by name for the rest of their working life.

In North America those requests mostly go unanswered. The makers are small, family-held and focused on their domestic markets. Anex, Hozan, Fujiya, Keiba, Merry, Godhand, Iwasaki, Suehiro — roughly twenty makers in our range have no meaningful North American distribution at all. What happens instead is that people buy one at a time from overseas marketplaces: unpredictable pricing, four-week shipping, no warranty path, and no way to tell a genuine tool from a copy.

That is the gap. Not a price gap — a channel gap. We hold the stock, publish the specifications properly, and answer the phone.

How we work

Four commitments

  1. We publish specifications, not marketing copy

Tip profile, steel grade, hardness, capacity, tolerance, country of manufacture. If a tool is unsuitable for something, the product page says so before you buy — the GodHand nipper will not cut wire, and we put that in the specification table rather than in the returns correspondence.

  2. We hold manufacturer's recommended retail

We do not discount to win a sale and we do not run permanent sale pricing. Several makers we represent operate minimum advertised price policies; holding those prices is a condition of supply, and it is what keeps a specialist channel viable for everyone in it — including the dealers who came before us.

  3. We describe availability honestly

Tools we hold say in stock. Tools we bring in to order say special order, with a lead time we believe. A hand-stitched rasp is quoted at six to eight weeks because that is genuinely what the workshop takes. We would rather quote eight and hit it than promise two and miss.

  4. We separate authorised supply from imported supply

Makers we hold a dealer account with are marked Authorized on our brands page. Everything else is sourced through import channels and is described as such. We never claim an authorisation we do not hold — it takes a rep one message to check, and it is the fastest way to lose a channel permanently.

Who buys from us

A defined customer, not "everyone"

  • Electronics repair and assembly

Board-level repair shops, ESD-controlled benches, instrument and device technicians.

  • Furniture and cabinet makers

Small shops and one-person workshops doing hand joinery alongside machine work.

  • Luthiers and instrument makers

Where float files, fine rasps and Japanese saws are the daily tools, not exotica.

  • Industrial maintenance

Plant and facilities teams working on Japanese and German machinery with JIS and metric fasteners.

  • Model makers and prototypers

Where cut finish matters more than cutting speed.

  • Trade schools and education

Programmes equipping benches with tools that survive being learned on.
